Cement plant in Tula, Russia, equipped with LOGiQ® automated logistics solution

Schenck Process has equipped another HeidelbergCement plant with its LOGiQ® automated logistics solution. The plant, which went into operation in June 2012, is located in Tula, Russia, around 150 kilometres south of Moscow. Following contracts in Germany, Romania, Bosnia and the Ukraine, the plant in Tula is a pilot project for the development of a common, overall solution for automated logistics systems specific to the eastern European market.

The particular challenges presented by the project were the aims of achieving the highest level of automation and avoiding manipulations. In order to achieve the best possible level of fraud protection, Schenck Process delivered a fully-tailored solution for the specific needs of HeidelbergCement that provides complete process documentation.

The intelligent LOGiQ® logistics solution precisely measures incoming and outgoing goods. Calibrateable road vehicle weigh bridges allow incoming and outgoing vehicles to be precisely weighed. Additional ultrasonic sensors and barriers ensure the position of trucks on the weigh bridge without supervision (24/7). Goods entering and leaving the plant by train are dynamically weighed while trains are in motion using a MULTIRAIL® track scale.

In addition to the weigh bridge and track scale, the logistics solution includes loading bays for lorries, loading terminals for bulk- and bag material, DISOMAT® weigh and measurement electronics, static track scales for the loading of wagons, contactless ID cards and the appropriate read and write systems for the dispatch area, plus the matching LOGiQ® logistics software.

Rainer Liebel, SD Business Analyst, Group IT, HeidelbergCement: “The LOGiQ® system is essential to the simple, transparent cost and time efficient measurement of the flow of goods at the Tula plant. All the relevant data is also shared with our IT systems online, allowing us to achieve a high level of automation while making manipulation highly unlikely.”

The success of the implementation of the automated logistics solution in this pilot project has led to a further order for Schenck Process from HeidelbergCement relating to a LOGiQ® system at a cement plant in Kazakhstan.
