LOGiQ® ParcelledGoodsManager is one of a number of special modules which make up the perfectly coordinated logistics software solution from Schenck Process for the bulk materials and cargo industry. It automates all processes from ordering through to shipment and synchronises the exchange of data between process and commercial systems.
The LOGiQ® ParcelledGoodsManager module is responsible for a very special part of this overall system. It processes cargo orders, which are for the most part loaded by the plant personnel. LOGiQ® ParcelledGoodsManager provides all the relevant information for this task.
LOGiQ® ParcelledGoodsManager tracks and documents the cargo output, displays planned orders, works with mobile terminals via WLAN and controls incoming and outgoing pallets. It tracks the process connection to pack machines and records the barcodes on packages.
The operator at the cargo loading point always has an up-to-date list of the transport orders which are already activated in the system and are to be processed next at the loading point. This preview allows the operator to prepare materials and pallets, for example, as required.
When the driver arrives at the loading point, all he has to show the operator is his ID card, which is inserted into the operating station; all of the loading information in the transport order is then displayed on the screen. The operator can therefore check the material to be loaded for each item and enter the quantities which have actually been loaded. At the same time, the number of incoming or outgoing pallets is recorded. This is an important process as pallets are often handed out against a deposit.
The operator then confirms what he has entered in the terminal and gives the driver his ID card back.
Incidentally, the LOGiQ® ParcelledGoodsManager module is also successfully used to communicate with process control systems for automatic loading of sacks using pack machines and sack counters.
