Mohs’ scale of mineral hardness was named after Friedrich Mohs, a mineralogist who invented the scale of hardness based on the ability of one mineral to scratch another. There are ten minerals in Moh’s scale, talc, gypsum, calcite, fluorite, apatite, feldspar, quartz, topaz, corundum, and for last and hardest, diamond.
