Dynamic train scales determine the weight of a wagon as it passes over them. Roughly speaking, whereas static scales determine mass once the goods or vehicle have settled and become a stationary value (standstill), dynamic scales determine mass during a relative movement between the goods and load carrier (transit). They should not be confused with continuous scales which determine a mass flow.
The MULTIRAIL® (in the US market the brand name is MultiTrain®) dynamic train scales from Schenck Process provide a highly economical and efficient form of weighing. During transport and/or handling, they economically weigh the product without the need for an operator. The system is integrated in the crosstie to precisely and reliably record the wagon’s weight as it passes over.
