Automatic scales work without the assistance and intervention of the operator.
The entire weighing procedure is carried out automatically following a pre-determined process, which was defined for the respective scales during design.
Automatic weighing equipment includes, for example, belt weighfeeders and filling scales as well as weighbridges.
These systems, if in commercial use, are subject to a conformity evaluation (calibration).
They are subject to European Guideline 2004/22/EC, also known as the MID (Measuring Instruments Directive).
