The basic difference between dynamic and static scales is that static scales determine the mass when stationary, while dynamic scales quickly and economically weigh the product without the need for an operator during transport and/or handling. The benefit of dynamic scales is plain to see: they are very efficient and save time and money.

Weighing principle of dynamic scales: Dynamic scales record the mass as the vehicle passes over the scales. The mass is determined using special algorithms and filters. Also refer to continuous scales which, unlike dynamic scales, determine a mass flow.

Principle of axle load: Scales fitted in the track / road surface determine the weight of road vehicles and rolling stock by automatically adding up their axle loads, for example for construction machinery and tractors. They also calculate axle loads and weights at entrances and exits to prevent trucks being overloaded.

Calculating axle load

Axle load = Own weight + weight of load
