The best example of this is MULTIRAIL® InterScan technology from Schenck Process. This convenient rail and road solution for monitoring and diagnosis combines reliability, convenient installation and operation, cost savings and cross-border use in one system.

Smart early diagnosis makes needs-based maintenance possible
MULTIRAIL® InterScan localises the Y and Q forces produced as it is passed over at a rate of several thousand measurements a second in order to detect high loads in both directions in good time. The result is a reliable measurement even at high track speeds. Excess axle loads, uneven loading and impermissible lateral forces which could result in tilted vehicles, accidents or damage are detected by this solution and can then be remedied in a process which saves money, avoids accidents and uses few materials and resources.

MULTIRAIL® InterScan also calculates dynamic wheel forces, which are caused by wheel flats. Again here early and needs-based maintenance to tracks and vehicles results in increased reliability, coupled with major cost savings.

The results are stored in a database and are transferred to the customer's IT system in evaluated form.

Equipped for Europe's railways
The concrete sleeper developed for MULTIRAIL® is equipped with high-precision weighing sensors which measure Y and Q forces separately. Thanks to its modular structure and inspected components, the system can be configured for the requirements of the EN15654 standard, guaranteeing interoperability on the railway lines of Europe.

The perfect fit in standard sleepers
The height of the new sleeper differs only very slightly from that of standard sleepers and it fits perfectly in the track.

The MULTIRAIL system, which operates within a speed range of 10 - 240 km/h, is integrated in the track without any gaps.
