Schenck Process becomes a sponsor of local charity Darmstädter Tafel
From July 2011, Schenck Process will be donating €3000 per year to local charity Darmstädter Tafel. A sponsorship contract to this effect, which is initially limited to three years, has now been signed. The money will be used to run and insure a refrigerated truck to transport donated staple foods to the charity's office.
The charity provides hot meals for around 60 to 80 people every weekday, and free groceries are distributed to a further 120 people three times a week. This key social facility would not be possible without donations – or the dedication of the many volunteers. Schenck Process is making its mark here too. Trainees from the Darmstadt-based company regularly help with the distribution of food for a day. In doing this, they're not just helping the charity's volunteers, they're also getting an insight into a world which is very different from theirs – a key personal experience and opportunity for enrichment.
Schenck Process consciously opted to support a local cause. At Christmas 2010, the Darmstadt specialist for weighing and feeding technology donated €3000 on behalf of all its employees for the purchase of a chilled counter. What's more, a donation box has also been set up in the Schenck Process reception area, and the company will regularly pass on the donations received to Darmstädter Tafel.
