People at Schenck Process

Francisco Diaz Arriola
Mr Diaz has been an employee of Schenck Process since 2008 and works as a Service Support & Training Consultant in the After Sales Business & Components Business Service.

Francisco Diaz Arriola has kindly agreed to answer some questions

SP: How did you become aware of Schenck Process?
FDA: At the time, I was actively looking for a new job. While I was searching online on monster and Jobpilot, I came across the description for the Service Support and Training Consultant job. The way in which the job advert was written was very interesting. It appealed to me instantly.

SP: What convinced you at the time that you wanted to work for Schenck Process? What was the decisive factor?
FDA: The decisive factor was definitely the position itself. I thought it was fantastic that the position wasn't just technical, but extremely comprehensive – an interface between a number of other departments.

SP: What was your first day and the induction phase like?
FDA: The first day was very exciting. There were Cuban customers here. I interpreted into Spanish and guided the customers through the plant. I had an individual induction programme and was therefore able to get a taste of the various projects during that time. I also gradually began to work on the projects actively or have in the meantime taken on full responsibility for them.

SP: What do you do as a Service Support & Training Consultant?
FDA: The position is neither purely commercial nor technical. The tasks are very comprehensive and diverse. We support the After Sales Service both here in Germany and throughout the world, promote our service concept, PASS (Process Advanced Service System) and transfer knowledge between our global locations. In other words, we expand the global service network. This includes tasks such as developing new service products - how they should look, what they should include and so on. We do this in close collaboration with the Marketing Department. We always have to ask ourselves how the customer would benefit from our products and what the customer needs. We organise training sessions for customers and internal employees. This includes creating an Intranet platform as well as a training brochure. In all, it's a very exciting job with a lot of responsibility.

SP: What do you think are the benefits and disadvantages of working in a medium-sized company such as Schenck Process?
FDA: The benefits are obvious. We are very well established throughout the world and we are versatile. Opportunities for promotion are very good in a medium-sized company. Another benefit is that it is a very international company where you can use your language skills. I can't think of a disadvantage at the moment.

SP: What has been your best experience at Schenck Process to date?
FDA: It has to be the warm welcome I received as a new employee, the open-mindedness of my colleagues and the good atmosphere in the company. I also think that the events organised for employees, such as the Open Your Mind series, are great. (comment: each month, the company hosts presentations by internal and external consultants on various topics. All staff are welcome to attend these presentations). I also find the company to be very family-friendly, as is demonstrated by events such as the 2008 Family Day.

SP: What do you think of Schenck Process as an employer?
FDA: It's an innovative medium-sized company and it's fun to work here.

SP: What do you do in your spare time?
FDA: I spend a lot of time with my wife and children (and my dog). I also enjoy several sports (jogging, keeping fit, cycling, and so on), go on the Internet and paint, if I have the time.
